去新西兰留学很多留学生只看新西兰的理工学院，新西兰理工学院共有19所，新西兰理工学院及极少数私立高等教育学校所授的文凭由新西兰资格认证局（NZQA）负责审批和监督。

这19所理工学院，提供各种职业及技术培训，包括短期课程和三年制、四年制的专业学位、文凭、证书课程。部分理工学院和大学可以互相转换学分（例如商科），学生在理工学院所修某些课程学分为大学所承认，其毕业后入读大学可以免修有关课程。
